Also called a custard apple, this tropical fruit is fantastic when ripe! Looking like a mutant avocado with thumbprints or a soft hand grenade, the cherimoya has big seeds and soft, mild flesh. Tastes a bit like a banana fused with a pear pollinated by a avocado grafted onto a peach. If you can wrap your mind around that. 

Eating such wonderful fruit reminds me how spoiled we are living in California, America’s “salad bowl”. We really have a remarkable array of fruits and vegetables at our fingertips.
