It’s easy to make a killer, from-scratch onion dip. I love the stuff you can make with that soup mix, but this homemade dip kicks its ass!
I chopped one large shallot and threw it in a hot skillet with a tablespoon of good olive oil. I added a tablespoon each of minced celery and green onion. Threw in a pinch of S & P. I cooked them on high until slightly charred.
I put them, still warm, into a mixing bowl and added one cup of sour cream, a half cup of canned fried onions, a quarter cup of mayo, one tablespoon minced green onion, one tablespoon minced celery leaf, a pinch of celery salt, a pinch of kosher salt, a generous dose of cracked pepper, and a tiny splash of balsamic vinegar. Mixed that all up with a rubber spatula and scooped it into this funny five-sided ceramic dish.
Served with Lay’s brand Ruffles. Only Ruffles. I’m a Ruffles man!
