Mien Ga

Proof that cooking talents do run in the family, my Vietnamese grandmother, my ba ngaoi, is an excellent cook. She’s here in LA for a few days prior to the Portland wedding and a couple of days ago she knocked out this classic Vietnamese noodle soup called Mien Ga, which is glass (cellophane, bean thread) noodles in a savory chicken broth with hunks of poached chicken, lots of herbs, and a cluster of shredded cabbage salad on top. Delicious. I ate mine with a huge dose of this insanely fiery chili paste my mother makes. Yowza!

A little overexposed, but hey, you get the idea!
